We are disheartened, saddened, and deeply disturbed at what we observed in Minneapolis…

The violence and behavior we have all witnessed is inexcusable and goes against the tremendous work and service of building trust between law enforcement and our diverse communities. The tragic death of George Floyd as well as the aftermath of events have sparked significant and challenging debate for reform.

The Foundation’s mission remains to support public safety to help make our communities better and safer. We recognize that our local public safety has championed 21st Century Policing in order to provide professional and compassionate service to our diverse community.

Moving forward as we listen and understand the needs of everyone in our community, we are better able to follow our mission and make our communities better.

Through continued collaboration, partnerships, and education, with community-based organizations and public safety organizations, we focus to find ways to bridge the gap and be a part of the solution.

COVID-19 response…

The past year we have seen our first responders stretched and community members experiencing significant challenges. MVPSF immediately responded to some of these challenges and in the early months of 2020, we partnered with community organizations to provide Cops & Gobblers Relief and created the First Responder’s Benevolent Fund.

Cops & Gobblers Relief
This program will be providing $50 Safeway gift cards for local families in need.

First Responder’s Benevolent Fund
MVPSF will be providing support for local first responders and their families who are affected by COVID-19.

Our 27th annual Thanksgiving Cops & Gobblers Thanksgiving food drive is almost here! Every year in November, we gather to celebrate community and good cheer by sharing with those who are in need. Learn more…

The 10-Code Mindset

MVPSF continues to hear the need from first responders for more mental health support and training. We have brought a dynamic duo, Sergeant Kevin Briggs and Kevin Berthia, a suicide survivor to speak to you. This mental health seminar will tell their story on how they met in March 2005 on the Golden Gate Bridge and how Sgt. Kevin Briggs saved Kevin Berthia’s life. They will discuss everything from: Crisis communication, Suicide prevention and postvention, compassion fatigue and the impact your role as a first responder has on your own mental health. What you do as a first responder can take its toll. Learn ways to identify and address YOUR own needs after your amazing day to day role.
