
Juan Diaz
Juan Diaz has been a fire service professional for twenty-nine years. He began his career in 1985 as a Santa Clara City Volunteer Reserve Firefighter, serving with them for over five years. Then in January 1989, he joined the San Jose Fire Department as a firefighter.
During Chief Diaz’s twenty-five year career with San Jose, he was promoted from Firefighter to Engineer, Inspector, Captain, Battalion Chief and Deputy Fire Chief. Additionally, for over eight years, he served on multiple administrative assignments including Community Wildland-Urban-Interface Captain, Fire Prevention Officer, Line Training Officer and Battalion Chief Department Safety Officer.
Chief Diaz has an Associate’s Degree in Fire Science and a Bachelor’s Degree in Emergency Management. Juan is a certified Chief Officer under the State of California Fire Marshal’s Office and holds other specialized training certifications.
