Brian Jones

Chief Brian Jones is a dedicated public safety leader with more than three decades of fire service experience and a lifelong commitment to serving communities. As Fire Chief of the Mountain View Fire Department, he leads a team of highly trained professionals focused on emergency response, fire prevention, disaster preparedness, and community safety.

A native of Mountain View, Chief Jones began pursuing his passion for the fire service while still in high school, taking fire technology and emergency medical services courses at Mission College. He launched his firefighting career in 1993 with the Columbia College Fire Department and later served with the Tuolumne County Fire Department before joining the City of Stockton Fire Department, where he rose through the ranks to Battalion Chief. In 2016, he joined the Mountain View Fire Department as Deputy Fire Chief and was appointed Fire Chief in 2025.

Chief Jones holds an Associate Degree in Fire Technology, a Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Management, and a Master’s Degree in Leadership with an emphasis in Homeland Security and Emergency Management. He is certified as both a Chief Officer and Executive Chief Officer through the California State Fire Marshal’s Office and maintains numerous specialized professional certifications.

Throughout his career, Chief Jones has been recognized for his collaborative leadership style, strategic vision, and unwavering dedication to public service. He also serves as a leader within regional emergency management efforts, helping coordinate responses to large-scale incidents and disasters throughout the Bay Area. His commitment to innovation, preparedness, and community engagement continues to strengthen the safety and resilience of Mountain View and the surrounding region.
