Cops & Gobblers COVID-19 Relief
As the COVID-19 economic fallout continues, our community members are experiencing significant challenges. From April to October 2020, the Cops & Gobblers program provided a total of $75,000 in $50 Safeway gift cards, helping over 1,500 local families struggling during the ongoing pandemic.
This is possible through generous donations, and partnerships with Safeway Nourishing Neighbors, Community Service Agency (CSA), Mountain View High School and Mountain View Police Department’s (MVPD) Neighborhood Outreach.
This Thanksgiving due to COVID-19, we will not be able to distribute our traditional food baskets. Instead, we will be distributing $50 grocery gift cards to struggling families. We are hoping to distribute 600 gift cards this Thanksgiving. All donations are most welcome!
Through collaboration and partnerships, families in need are identified and grocery cards are distributed directly as quickly as possible. If you’d like to help contribute to the gift cards, please consider making a donation below.
Every year, we gather to celebrate community and good cheer by sharing with those who are in need. Each November, MVPSF, MVPD and community volunteers assemble and help deliver 400 food baskets for the annual Cops & Gobblers Thanksgiving Food Drive.
Cops & Gobblers stared in 1997 by MVPD Officer Steve Mello (now retired) delivering food baskets for 15 families in need. Now, 20 years later, the program is led by retired MVPD Captain Bruce Barsi as well as Amber Wilson and provides over 400 food baskets each year for families in need.
This annual gathering is always a success thanks to the very generous donations of those in and around Mountain View. You can help provide a basket to a family by donating.
We would like to thank our Community Partners who help to make this program possible.
