“Thanks for the support and for providing us with the means to initiate an important community education program.” – Chief Max Bosel

R.A.D. (Rape Aggression Defense) is a training designed for women encompassing realistic, self-defense tactics and techniques.

“As a RAD instructor, it was fulfilling to instruct so many residents who were eager to learn self-defense techniques. MVPSF made it possible to train an entire team of MVPD staff to be able to offer multiple classes a year for our community.” – Jodie Pierce, MVPD

The program has since trained a total of 125 students, all females in Mountain View. MVPSF provided a total of $9,000 in funding for the self-defense training.

“The R.A.D. training with MVPD gave me the tools to feel confident in my physical ability to defend myself against an assailant. I’d recommend the course to anyone new to self defense or to those who have taken it before but need a refresher. With practice, the moves are easy to do, easy to remember, and are essential life skills, there is no excuse!” – Lisa B.
